Setup Guide for Email in Thunderbird:
The setup for Thunderbird is quite simple with the wizard, but you will have to fix the Outgoing Server settings to not use Authentication, which is detailed in further down in this setup guide.

After installing Thunderbird or adding a mail account, you will be welcomed with the following window:


Step 1: Enter your name, email address, and password and click on Continue:

Thunderbird will try to automatically grab the server settings, please compare to the picture below.


Step 2: After shows these settings, click on Manual Config


Step 3: Fix the Outgoing server to use No Authentication, then click Create Account

Note: if you are using a domain other than mcsnet.ca like hmsinet.ca, please specify the full email address
in the 'User Name' field.


Step 4: Once Thunderbird has digested your settings, it will give you a warning message about email not being encrypted. Check the 'I understand the risks' box and click create account to finish:



Correcting Outgoing Sever for No Authentication

Click on Tools then Account Settings:

Click on Outgoing Server, then Edit...:

Change Authentication Method to No Authentication

Click OK to get out of the menus, and the fix is done.
