- Download Speed
- Downloading is when you are receiving information from the internet to your computer. Downloading is often much more heavily used compared to uploading. The normal maximum speed for a dialup connection is about 56 kbps (.056 Mbps). The Office Standard package is about 60 times faster than dialup*. All packages are available for all subcribers within appropriate range and line of sight; A low frequency radio of 900 MHz is often used for difficult or longer shots through trees and other obstacles. Speeds are expected to be about 35-40% slower when using a 900 MHz transmitter.
- Upload Speed
- Uploading is when you are sending information to the internet from your computer. The most common use of uploading is with the sending of E-mails. Minimum recommended speed of upload with VoIP is 450 kbps.
-
- Data Transfer Limit
- The amount of data that can be sent or received using the internet connection. The current average usage on our network is around 3 GB. Higher usage is usually found with the use of file sharing programs, with the downloading of music and movies. As a relative example: the average size of a song is around 5 MB, so the Lite package (10 GB limit) would allow one to download a maximum of about 2,000 songs per month (there are about 1000 MB in a GB). If usage reaches the maximum for the package, to restart the service they may either 1) upgrade to a higher package, or 2) purchase 10 GB for the current month for $19.95 (one time), or 3) purchase additional traffic to add to the package on a monthly basis (add 10 GB to your package for an additional $14.95 per month), or 4) wait for the next month's cycle to commence.
*Average speeds are expected to be lower than the highest quoted speed. Factors like the speed a website can throughput, the amount of traffic accessing it, data caching, and network load will cause variance in the speeds. The speeds we quote are based on your equipment, and ours, working at optimum speeds.
